Do you know the *adoption system in Japan?
Adoption refers to the relationships of those who don't have parent-child relationships, but are given them *legally.
In old Japan, there had been many cases in which adoptions were carried out at houses where no one existed to inherit the family assets.
Currently there have been "*usual adoptions" and "*special adoptions" in Japan. They have been *distinguished by whether they maintain a relationship with both of the adoptive and *biological parents, or cut off the relationship with the biological parents after the adoption.
Regarding *inheritance, which is in cases of special adoption, there are restrictions under the tax laws, but they can receive inheritance from adoptive parents under the *civil code.
On the other hand, the number of *interracial marriages has been increasing in Japan. Although the adopting system is complicated, there has also been acceptance of children with different nationalities from their adoptive parents.
In the UK, PAC-UK(Post-Adoption Center) has supported the adoption system since 1985. PAC-UK provides support to adopted children directly, they produce workshops for after adoption and give training to professional staff and school teachers.

養子縁組について知っていますか？養子縁組とは、血縁関係上は親子関係のない者どうしを法律的に親子関係があるとするものです。昔の日本では、家督を継ぐ者がいない場合に養子縁組をおこなうケースが多かったようです。
現在日本には普通養子縁組と特別養子縁組があり、実親との関係を養子縁組によって断ち切る（特別養子）かどうかによって区別されています。相続に関しては、特別養子縁組の場合は税法上の制限はありますが、民法上は同様に養親からの相続を受けることができます。
養子縁組は複雑な制度ではありますが、日本でも国際結婚の件数は増えてきており、養親とは国籍の違う子どもを受け入れるケースもあります。
イギリスでは1985年以降、ＰＡＣ－ＵＫ（ポスト・アダプション・センター）が養子縁組制度を支援しています。ＰＡＣ－ＵＫは養子縁組支援機関として、養子縁組後の直接的なサポートに加えて、ソーシャルワーカーや学校の教員等を対象として研修会等も実施しています。
