In Japan, the first banking system might have been *enacted in the Meiji era. The first bank which was established in Japan was *First National Bank (ex Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank which was *reorganaized as Mizuho Corporate Bank later), it was opened on July 20 in 1873 (Meiji 6).
In addition, the first private bank of Mitsui Bank was *set up on March 31, 1876 which had been located on Nihon-bashi Branch of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). At that time, in Japan the National Bank must have been able to issue *banknotes(bills), but the private banks couldn't have issued them.
Looking around the world, the first bank like current banks could have been established in Northern Italy which was the center of the world's trade and culture at that time.
As you know Britain is the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. In 1666, the gold futures market was set up in Lodon and it was *cutting edge in financial markets. The Bank of England as the central bank in Britain had been established in 1694. It was *nationalized and backed up in 1946 after World War Ⅱ.

今回は、日本とイギリスの銀行システムの歴史について比較してみましょう。日本で銀行のシステムが制定されたのは明治時代と言われています。
日本で最初に設立された銀行は「第一国立銀行」で、明治6年（1873年）7月20日に開業しました。（のちの第一勧業銀行、その後みずほコーポレート銀行に再編）
さらに日本で最初の私立銀行は三井銀行で、1876年3月31日に現在の三井住友銀行（SMBC)日本橋支店がある場所に開業しました。当時日本では、国立銀行は銀行券を発行できましたが、私立銀行は発行できなかったとされています。
世界を見渡すと、現在の銀行のようなシステムができがったのは、北イタリアに設立されたのが始まりだといわれていいます。当時は貿易と文化の中心だったようです。
イギリスはというと言わずとしれた産業革命の発祥地ですが、1666年ロンドンに金の先物取引市場が設立され、金融市場の最先端をいっておりました。イングランド銀行は1694年に設立されたとされており、第二次世界大戦後の1946年には国有化され支援を受けました。
