The other day, I read a book titled "To learn *horticultural techniques from the World Heritage *Kew Gardens (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew)"

It's a book written by a Japanese gardener Mr. Masaya Tatebayashi who obtained *diploma certification from Kew Gardens in the UK. It is part of their lives for British people to take care of their gardens, and it seems ordinary that they spend their time and money on their gardens more than the Japanese.

I reserched the data that ordinary people's *disposable income is approximately ￡1,665 per month in the UK.(It's equivalent to 240,000yen. Exchange rate GBP=144.43yen as of 1/29)

Meanwhile, the Japanese average household income is ￡3,115 per month.(It's about 450,000yen.)

Although this is a fact of their income, they have their own expensive hobbies and they don't need extra money to spend on their own. This is an envious thing for Japanese people, isn't it?

If I had an opportunity to visit the southwest London, I would like to enjoy Kew Gardens and hope to feel the atmosphere of how British people love their gardens.

 先日、「世界遺産キューガーデン（イギリス王立植物園）に学ぶ園芸テクニック」という 本を読みました。キューガーデンでディプロマの資格を取得した日本人園芸士の舘林正也さんの著書です。イギリス人にとって庭いじりは生活の一部であり、日本人よりも多くの時間とお金をガーデニングに費やしているのがわかります。 

あるデータを調べてみました。夫婦二人の手取り収入の平均は、イギリスでは1665ポンド（1/29時点での為替レートGBP=144.43円で計算すると、約24万円）です。一方、日本の夫婦二人の手取り収入の平均は、3115ポンド（約45万円）です。

日本はイギリスの約倍ですね。収入の違いは確かですが、イギリス人はとても豊かな趣味を持っていて、それ以上のお金は必要ないのかもしれません。これは日本人にとってはある意味羨ましいことですよね。

もしイギリスに行ったときにロンドンの南西部を訪れることができたなら、ぜひキューガーデンでイギリス人がいかに彼らのガーデニングを愛しているかという雰囲気を感じられたらと思っています。
