On June 24-28(Fri-Tue), the world events of the Lions Club International Conference were held at Marine-Messe-Fukuoka, Fukuoka international congress center, Hilton Sea Hawk Hotel in Fukuoka city.
I played a role in supporting the event as a volunteer interpreter and I could communicate with many people from abroad. It was awesome for me to have such an experience!
On June 24, we welcomed the guests from the United States, Mexico, India, Malaysia and Sri Lanka at Fukuoka Airport(Domestic line 2nd terminal for transit). I asked them the names of their hotels where they stay that night, I took them to the taxi stand and I told the taxi drivers the address of hotels and how to pay the fare by cash or credit cards.
I noticed that Asian people don't want to take taxis because of the high taxi fare despite them having big suitcases and luggage!
I persuaded them to go to Hakata or Tenjin area by taxi.
On June 25, we enjoyed the world parade on Meiji St. and I played a role in inducing them to parade the course.
The next venue of this Lions Club International Conference will be Las Vegas.
6月24日㈮から28日㈫の期間、ライオンズクラブ国際会議の世界大会が福岡市のマリンメッセ福岡、福岡国際会議場、ヒルトンシーホークホテルの各会場で行われました。
私はこのイベントで通訳ボランティアの役割を果たし、海外からのたくさんのお客様とお話しをすることができました。大変素晴らしい経験をさせていただきました。
6月24日、私は福岡空港の第二ターミナルでアメリカ、メキシコ、インド、マレーシア、そしてスリランカからのお客様たちをお迎えしました。
まずお客様が泊まるホテルの名前を聞き、タクシー乗り場までお連れします。そしてタクシー運転手にホテルの場所と、お客様のご希望の支払い方法（現金・クレジットカード）をお伝えする内容です。
アジアからのお客様は特にタクシー料金が高いことを気にしてあまりタクシーに乗りたがりませんが、なんせスーツケースなどの荷物が多いものですから、どうしてもタクシーで博多や天神に行っていただくことになります。
6月25日は世界各国の方々が参加する国際パレードが明治通りで行われました。私は参加者をパレードのコースに誘導する役割でした。
ライオンズクラブ世界大会の次回開催地は、ラスベガスだそうです。
