Have you ever given (or been given) New Year's gifts (Otoshidama) in a foreign currency?
My younger brother gives the foreign currency to my children every new year.
It was the Chinese yuan last year, and they were given the Swiss franc the year before last.
So, every year my children are looking forward to receiving the gifts of defferent countrie's currency from their uncle.
This year it's Euro! My children have been waiting for the timing of cashing and worrying about the daily exchange rate for Euro.
Incidentally today's exchange rate is €1 = 127.93 yen.(as of 1/19)
I'll try to redeem if it will turn to a little weaker yen.
I think it's good for children to have a financial education.
みなさんは外貨でお年玉をあげたりもらったりしたことはありますか？
私の弟は、毎年お正月に私の子どもたち（甥、姪）に外貨でお年玉をくれます。
去年は「中国元」、その前は「スイスフラン」でした。
なので、わが子たちは毎年「ことしは叔父ちゃんからどこの国のお金をもらえるかなあ」と楽しみにしているのです。
今年のお年玉は、「ユーロ」！
子どもたちは換金のタイミングを計り、日々の為替レートを気にするようになりました(笑)
ちなみに、今日の対ユーロレートは127.93円（1/19時点）
うーん、もうちょっと円安になったら換金しようと思っています。
子どもたちにとっては、いい「金銭教育」になっているようです。
